Luke Slater, born on June 12, 1968, in Reading, Berkshire, England, is a prominent figure in the techno music scene. Starting in the early 1990s, Slater has consistently shaped his sound and career around techno, achieving commercial success with hits like “Love“ (1997) and “All Exhale“ (1999). Slater's versatility is evident in his ability to perform under multiple aliases, with over ten to his name, the most notable being Planetary Assault Systems and LSD. Raised in Horley, Slater's musical journey began with experimenting on his father's reel-to-reel tape recorder and playing drums. His passion for music deepened through his work in local record shops, including Jelly Jam in Brighton. By 1988, he was already a part of London's burgeoning acid house scene, DJing at the famous Heaven nightclub. Slater's prolific output includes tracks released under various pseudonyms since his first single, “Momentary Vision,“ in 1989. His extensive discography spans multiple labels, such as Djax and Peacefrog Records, the latter hosting his projects like The X-Tront and Planetary Assault Systems. His albums “Freek Funk“ and “Wireless“ further cemented his reputation in the late '90s. In addition to his studio albums, Slater has also made a mark with his mix series “Fear and Loathing,“ showcasing his skills as a DJ. The series began in 2001, with subsequent volumes adding depth to his diverse musical offerings. “Alright on Top“ (2002), an album featuring vocals on every track, highlights his ability to blend techno with more structured song formats.
