In early May, my team explored the following claim with students: “Trans women should be able to compete in women’s sports.” After about 25 minutes of discussion, one student asked, “What’s the goal of this?” The idea of examining beliefs seemed utterly foreign to her. Universities have a responsibility to provide students with tools to think through claims and exchange in fruitful inquiry. They are failing. Although students were aware we were filming this conversation, we blurred some of their faces in the video for their privacy and we're not releasing the name of the university. ⸺SUPPORT MY WORK⸺ Newsletter | Donate | ⸺LINKS⸺ Website | National Progress Alliance | Resignation Letter | ⸺BOOKS⸺ “How To Have Impossible Conversations” | =cm_sw_r_api_i_7DPKY2S21SSNAV8PCBW3_0 “A Manual For Creating Atheists” | =tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1664805100&sr=1-2 ⸺SOCIAL MEDIA⸺ Twitter | Instagram | TikTok | @peterboghossian All Socials | __________ Chapters 0:00 Intro 2:00 Exercise begins 2:20 Initial arguments (Agree) 5:12 Initial arguments (Disagree) 6:45 Discussion 19:56 New students join conversation 25:50 “What's the goal of this?“ 30:00 Closing Thoughts 38:40 Wrap Up/End #transwomen #transwomeninfemalesports #socialjustice #streetepistemology #peterboghossian
