It was a busy summer at PoloReef. Here is a recap of what you missed! While summer has been over for a couple of weeks, whether back to school or back to work, everyone likes to know what you did on your summer vacation. While on our “vacation,“ we worked at making things better for everyone and wanted to share our activities from the quiet time of year. Tearing down a tank is never fun, but taking down one of our old favorites to add a new concept for us, a drop-down tank, should inspire everyone to make a big tank move. On top of that, we aquascaped our 2500-gallon tank after building a replica so that the aquascape was as close to perfect as we could get before we put it all together in the tank. Even though it is seven times smaller than our main display tank, it still easily held two people while they put in the live rock structures. And if that was not enough, we show the back-room activity of changing one of our large skimmer pumps. As we continue to assess various pieces of equipment, we start a trial of a new Orphek light, the Amazonas 960, a new 320-watt LED. We also continued to work on reducing the excess micro-air bubbles in the tank, which were causing gas bubble issues in some of the fish. We did this by improving the skimmer and ozone units and making some adjustments and changes in some of the equipment. And not to leave out our pond-loving friends, we made some improvements and added some choice specimens to PoloPond. Lastly, we show significant improvements and changes to the back room lab and holding area. These changes will help us continue our quest to optimize the quarantine and treatment process for all new arrivals, which we will share with you. *************************** ☛ SUBSCRIBE for the latest *************************** ☘ GIVEAWAYS more!
