This is my favorite cast on for brioche projects that start from a point and expand in size. I've used this method in the Great Wave and in the Blooming Brioche Shawl. 1. Start with a slip knot in your Dark Color ( or secondary color) and place it on the needle. 2. KYOK into the knot so that you have 3 stitches. 3. Slip 1, with the new color, Increase 2-8 stitches into the next stitch, Slip 1. You are now ready to begin a brioche stitch pattern with 5-11 sts on the needle. Cast on a lower number (5) for a narrow shape with a shallow slope. Higher numbers (9, 11) will make half circle or traditional triangle shapes. Anything over that will be more than 180 degrees. 17 stitches would create a full circle - it's too many stitches for most projects.
