Blackdot Presents: Omer Tunca - Tattoo Artist - Istanbul, Turkey Bio: I graduated from Istanbul’s Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture. Since 2018, I have been continuing my artistic production with tattoo art. The education I received academically forms the basis of my tattoos. Combining works of art from past periods through collage art and transforming them into contemporary compositions can be seen as a summary of my current style in tattoo. My works can be viewed as cause and effect stories. The centerpiece often takes the form of a person, object, or location. When supplemental pieces contained in the work come together, they compose a greater form that is related to them in terms of meaning. This intricate set of relations delivered to the client also renders them the inspiration behind the story. Orders of Antiquity: Orders of Antiquity explores the interplay of ancient and modern forms. Architectural columns, their capitals, and ornaments form the aesthetic basis of each design. The antique architectural elements are supported by modern geometric units to create a striking visual dialogue. The Doric column is often associated with strength and simplicity, the Ionic column with grace and refinement, and the Corinthian column with luxury and abundance.
