UPDATE: Two NYPD police sergeants were shot Thursday afternoon in the Lower East Side, according to law-enforcement sources. Authorities have a suspect in custody, and have also recovered a gun, the sources said. The wounded officers – one who was shot in the leg, the other in the groin – were taken to Bellevue Hospital.
