The temperature data for this simulation is normalized to the interval 0-255. From 0 to 123, the temperatures interpolate linearly from pure blue to 50%blue/50%green (teal). From 123 to 128, the temperatures interpolate linearly from teal to pure green. Then from 128 to 133 pure green to pure yellow. The rest of the spectrum is linear from pure yellow to pure red. This colormap helps provide a visual cue of an important feature of the flow pattern. While green occupies only a tiny portion of the temperature spectrum, look at what happens when that portion of the temperature spectrum dominates the spatial distribution of temperatures.
