I made a Nuke script to turn video into ASCII characters (limited to easily type-able ones. No extended sets). In order to pick the characters, I actually counted the number of pixels for each in the DOS font, and ordered them respectively. I only used seven characters plus blank, resulting in eight shades of lumenance. This was filmed off of an Apple IIc CRT with a 4-point star filter at 45°. The sound was run through the “Lo-Fi“ filter that Pro Tools has. Enjoy.
