The FBI director's testimony on Capitol Hill provided new details into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13. Federal investigators said Thomas Matthew Crooks fired from a roof near the rally, wounding Trump and two supporters, and killing a former fire chief in the crowd, identified as Corey Comperatore. While testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed the shooter never used a ladder to get onto the roof. Wray explained “we now believe that the subject climbed onto the roof using some mechanical equipment on the ground and vertical piping on the side of the building.
