Winter in Iran: In northern and western regions of Iran winter starts with wet snow and averages at 1 to 8 °C (34-46 °F). Southern coasts are usually warmer. Local temperature is 10 to 14 °C (50-57 °F) at daytime while in mountainous regions even daytime temperature are in negative range (below 32 °F). January is the coldest month with -5…-8 °C (23-18 °F) in northwestern potion of the country. Central and coastal lands are much warmer with about 11 °C (52 °F). February brings first sings of approaching spring. Temperatures are rising to about 13 °C (55 °F) except alpine regions (above 1500 m or 4920 ft. .) where air is still cold.
