Two strong earthquakes have rocked Taiwan in the past 24 hours. An earthquake measuring 5.7 in magnitude struck northeastern Taiwan on Thursday. The tremors occurred at 05:06 pm local time. The epicenter was located at a depth of 9 km in the sea, 38 km from the city of Yilan. The second earthquake, measuring 6.3, occurred at 07:35 am local time. The epicenter was located in the sea at a depth of 14 km, 32 km from the city of Hualien. Several aftershocks were later recorded. There is no threat of a tsunami. The earthquake was felt in many parts of the country, including the capital Taipei. Eyewitnesses are sharing footage of the natural disaster on social media. Furniture shook in houses, objects fell from shelves. Some residents left their homes and offices. There were no reports of injuries or serious damage.
