I'm pretty sure I've only played one level by Ph4lip in the past, and that was Marenol. It's one of very few “layout“ levels I've uploaded on the channel in the past. I thought it had some very fun and unique gameplay, as well as being synchronized extremely well to another song by LeaF (who also made the songs for Peaceful and Aleph 0). My complaint was, as you could guess, that I'd like to see it decorated at some point. Keeping it a layout like Ph4lip did is fair, but I still don't consider them to be real levels as they don't showcase a creator's full potential. Getting to play a fully decorated level by him this time around was nice. Endless Descent is based on the anime Made In Abyss, which is made obvious by some of the text and song choice (which is the ending song of the 2nd season). I have not watched much of the 2nd season yet, and that's what this is based on, so I probably wouldn't have recognized it without the text and song choice. For this reason, I can't really comment on whether the visuals for each layer are an accurate depiction or not, but I do like what I see here. There's a lot of very cool custom block designs in particular. The backgrounds are quite simple in comparison, but I think it works well as a contrast to the foreground. It also makes the gameplay more sightreadable, which is always a good thing. Like I said, I like some of the block designs a lot, such as the first one and at 0:58. However, I'm not a huge fan of the structures that consist of mainly 2.1 “rock“ blocks. The worst offender is seen at 0:35. I think this part could have looked much better without resorting to these particular blocks. That may just be me, though. As expected from playing Marenol, I found the gameplay quite enjoyable. It flows nicely as it's very clear for the most part. The amount of black glow at 0:49 did make this part a little harder to read, but it's easy enough that it doesn't end up being frustrating really. You'll beat it every attempt after a practice run. Besides that, I don't have much complaints. Naturally, the song is not on Newgrounds considering the fact that it's an anime's ending theme song, but I see that the replacement is a remake of it. This means it may synchronize perfectly as well. If that's the case, I can definitely see this getting a Featured Easy Demon rating.
