How I got my house built in Uganda... exactly how I wanted it and where I wanted it... And my husband was very understanding ... and very helpful... found the right place... owned by the right kind of lady... a hard working tough old lady... all the legal paperwork was handled by her laywer son, Binaisa ... It was exciting and fun to get the house built... I bought every screw, brick, bag of cement, piece of wood etc etc etc etc myself... planted the garden... ... loved the place... BUT... Alas... Idi Amin was a very destructive President... really destructive... and I left with the children Dec 1974 ... and promised myself not to return before Uganda had got a President who wanted Uganda to strive...... and it did after 15 years of civil war ... I visited 1990 and things were getting back to normal ... slowlybu t surely.... my lovely house hadbeen spared and taken care of.... and ... the garden had grown beautifully...
