A new work 'Weightless' for solo guitar composed by Caerwen Martin. The piece was commissioned specially for Guitar Perspectives though a generous donation from Peter and Rasika Crowley. Talented third year MCM classical guitar student Louis Smith worked with the composer in preparation for the first performance at our Student Showcase concert on October 25 this year. This video was recorded by Leo Dale at WeFo studios The composer writes about the work: “This piece is about the physical experience of Anxiety. The feeling in the body is one of weightlessness, of being unglued from the earth, of floating and becoming unstuck from reality. There is a feeling of euphoric fear associated with these sensations, like taking a strong medication with untested side effects. Also, within this piece is the idea of the mental capacity to return to a state of calm. I hope this offers some hope to those who struggle with this condition.”
