One day in the life of a Vietnamese village, from crowing roosters to the end of a busy day. The order of the day is determined by farm work and the organization of social life. Caring for farm animals, rice cultivation, food and rest breaks. After school, the children join their parents. They work together. Wide shots show the beauty of the landscape, close-ups focus on the specificity of life in Vietnam (field irrigation methods). Time seems to have flown here continuously for hundreds of years, nothing disturbs peace in the village. Only the opening and closing credits, in three languages, make you aware of the tragedy of this place. Life in the village has been consumed by the fire of the Vietnam War. This documentary was created by Andrzej Brzozowski, an experienced documentary filmmaker, the director of, among others, “Rozmowy jazzowe“ (1957), “Archeologia“ (1967), “Pociąg“ (1970), “Negatyw“ (1972) and the feature film titled “Przy torze kolejowym“ (1967). He also devoted his production “Martwa natura“ to Vietnam and the effects of the war. The film “Ogień“ won the Golden Ducat and the Catholic Film Mission Award at the Mannheim International Film Festival (1971).
