China is mobilizing nationwide efforts to combat torrential rains, severe floods, and other natural disasters. The country has entered a critical flood season, typically lasting from late July to early August. Over the past few weeks, heavy rains have devastated vast areas of China, causing significant destruction. The severe weather has also disrupted transportation and forced hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate their homes. Emergency flood response measures have been activated in many regions across the country to manage the situation. Torrential rains caused a flash flood on a local river in Ya'an city, Sichuan province, in southwest China. As a result of the disaster, more than 40 houses in the village were completely destroyed, leaving many homeless. Restoration efforts are in full swing in the flood-stricken areas of Sichuan to rebuild infrastructure and homes. Power supply to 5,400 households has been fully restored, ensuring residents have electricity again. Seven power transmission lines in Hanyuan have been repaired to stabilize the local power grid. In coastal areas, local authorities are preparing for the impact of Typhoon Gaemi, the third typhoon of the year. As of 5 a.m. Wednesday, Gaemi was located 260 km southeast of Yilan County, Taiwan, and moving closer. The typhoon is expected to make landfall on the central and northern coasts of Taiwan in the coming days. Heavy rains are forecasted for most of Fujian province, with some areas bracing for significant rainfall. The heaviest rainfall is likely to occur in central and northern regions of Fujian, causing concerns for flooding. Total precipitation is expected to reach 400 millimeters, posing a risk of severe flooding in vulnerable areas. In some areas, more than 600 millimeters of rain is predicted, which could exacerbate flooding and landslides. Emergency services are on high alert and have been deployed to respond swiftly to any incidents that arise. #henan #flood #china #news #weather #storm #hurricane #rain A natural disaster is a serious adverse event caused by natural processes on Earth; Examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, rain, hail, wildfires, waves, wind, snow, weather, and other geological processes.
