Operation Chrome Dome, one of the most ambitious operations in U.S. Air Force history, defined the Cold War, and underscored the dangers of the nuclear age. As many viewers have mentioned, the Boeing KC-135 was not derived from the 707. Rather, both models were developed from the Boeing 367-80 “Dash 80“ prototype.
