University of Utah mechanical engineering professor Jake J. Abbott has discovered a method of manipulating orbiting space debris with the use of spinning magnets, allowing agencies more dexterous movement in clearing out space junk or repairing satellites. In this video, a copper ball on a small raft in a large water tank (which simulates microgravity in this situation) is moving in a square as well as rotating to demonstrate the process of manipulation through magnets.
