Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was heckled Monday evening as he spoke at a ceremony by Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, while it marked one year since the First Nation learned 215 suspected unmarked graves were detected near the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in B.C. As Trudeau delivered remarks, people shouted at him, though the prime minister said he had spoken with some of the elders who wanted to hear him sharing his reflections. Despite this, people continued to boo him at moments in his speech as well as when he concluded. He said there was more to do in the wake of the findings of suspected unmarked graves and the federal government would be there for them.
