We sheared over 100 alpacas here in a day and a half. As you can see, the animals aren't harmed or mistreated throughout the whole process, and the actual shearing only takes about four minutes. After which, they are back out in the pasture munching on hay and rolling in the sun, happy to be rid of their big thick coat in time for summer! They are held down by the ropes but never pulled tight enough to hurt them, just to help them keep still so that they aren't accidentally cut. We also trim their toenails and do dental work if they need it, and the clients will often give injections to animals that need a vaccine booster. This is vitally important herd health work done efficiently and humanely!
