#VisitRussia Koyashskoye Lake is the pink pearl of Crimea. It is located in the Opuksky Nature Reserve near Feodosia. In the summer, when the water evaporates significantly, the lake acquires a crimson color, which is ideally shaded by glistening salt crystals that are frozen on the shore. The lake is not large, about 4 km long and 2 km wide, and quite shallow with an average depth of just one meter. The water here is very pure. Pink lakes are rare in the world, but not in Russia. It has its “brother,“ Lake Burlinskoe, which is located in Altai Krai. Not far from the salty reservoir, there is a canyon where flocks of pink starlings gather annually. Given that these birds always fly in large groups, observing the pink clouds fluttering over the coast is truly a fascinating sight! Source: DPR MFA
