Then shot looking down over crowd at track; horses run past. Crowd breaking up; all moving around. Many veterans of World War One still in uniforms. Some of these waving from their perch up high on something. Pan on people standing on a small boat. US row of young women in identical coats; hats - some military auxiliary group? - sitting on roof; waving hats. They stand up and wave. DS Spectators being snowed on; one umbrella sticking up. GV grounds w/ crowds milling about; various little stands - some for placing bets. Pan on crowd; river; more people lined up on bridge over river. Several people walking on plank laid over boat (same as before) More girls climb up ladder to roof. They wave & cheer. Crowd walking by to left; in front of long low stone building; w/ more people standing on its roof. Everyone's trying to get a better vantage point.
