The plastic industry in India is growing at a rapid pace. The country started making phenolics in 1947 but it took nearly 10 years to launch plastic products. This was followed by an exponential increase in plastic production in India after new technology was adapted to make it more efficient. Raw material sources have also seen changes with the government forming a separate Plastic Export Promotion Council that encourages exports of Indian-made plastic goods. A plastic production plant uses crude oil, natural gas, coal, cellulose, and salt among other raw materials to make plastic, which will be further processed into different grades of plastics.
