I had a weekend by the River Thames recently and spent a long time watching folks rowing up and down. There is something very lovely about messing about on a river. I love everyone crowded around Henley in their little rowing boats with their picnic lunches in this newsreel item from 1932. Cambridge win the Grand Rowing as Leander Club and Shrewsbury School carry off Ladies' Plate. General scenes on River - cloudy day. University men watching through glasses. Rowing teams on river. Shots of the two crews past the winning post and Leander winning the Grand Challenge Cup. General elevated scenes. Shots of the Diamond Sculls. Sculling past camera. Other shots of the rowing events. Theatre Feature: OPENING DAYS RACING General river scenes with pleasure crowds in boats. Shots of the teams competing in the Ladies Challenge Plate. Shot of the finish of the race with Aurial?? College, Oxford as the winners. Crowds in punts etc. picnic and others play banjos etc. University men watch through binoculars.
