Beautiful and scary. Iceland is covered in lava. The Fagradalsfjadl volcano on the Reykjanes Peninsula has already erupted several times in these three years. The Sentinel-2 satellite recorded a lava-filled fissure near it. It is slowly spreading through the neighbourhood, threatening roads and small settlements. Near the town of Grindavik, where residents were recently evacuated, a plume of smoke and lava flow can be seen. Some roads are blocked and emergency services continue to monitor the situation.
