Firefighters were seen rescuing a man standing on a windowsill outside a burning apartment in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood on June 20. Cat Obuhoff, who recorded this video, told Storyful she “woke up scared and confused to a man yelling ‘help’,” adding that she “could smell smoke.” New York Fire Department Deputy Assistant Chief John Sarrocco said in a briefing that after receiving a call for smoke in the area, his team found heavy fire on the fourth floor of an apartment building on 16th Street, near Prospect Park. “We found one victim in a window that had no access to the fire escape,“ Sarrocco said, adding that the firefighters then performed a roof rope rescue. In the video, the distressed man is seen calling for help as an intense fire rages from a nearby window.
