'Too Much In My Schedule': King Apologises For Rushing Off After Reception' King Charles III attended a reception in Nairobi on Wednesday hosted at the British high commissioner's residence as he continued his state visit to Kenya. The king spoke with guests at the event before making a short speech. The monarch made a reference to his packed schedule during the trip, which has seen him visit sites significant to Kenya's fight for independence and its war dead. Elsewhere Wednesday, Charles held a private meeting with the family of the executed leader of the Kenyan rebellion against British colonial rule. On Tuesday he had expressed “greatest sorrow and the deepest regret” for the violence of the colonial era. Kenya is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its independence this year. It has had a close but at times challenging relationship with Britain after the prolonged struggle against colonial rule, sometimes known as the Mau Mau Rebellion, in which thousands of Kenyans died. Colonial authorities resorted to executions and detention without trial as they tried to put down the insurrection, and thousands of Kenyans said they were beaten and sexually assaulted by agents of the administration. #Kingcharles #queencamilla #royals Follow us for more royal news, history, and highlights: ♛ Subscribe to our brand new show, exclusive to Snapchat - ♛ Subscribe to our YouTube channel (tap the bell icon and stay up to date with all the latest Royal videos!) - ♛ Find us on TikTok @royalfamilychannel ♛ Follow us on Facebook - ♛ Tweet with us! -
