In late 2016 we travelled down to Colombia for a two week tour around a country we knew very little about beyond the cliches often portrayed in western pop culture. We wanted to get an introduction to the people, their way of life and experience first hand the landscapes, and talent of the emerging superpower in the world of professional mens cycling. We had never met the crew hosting us in Colombia, nor been given any indication of where we’d be riding, or on what, and our understanding Spanish was non-existent. The following two weeks were an incredible cultural experience in one of the most beautiful and welcoming parts of the world we’ve ever visited. We were given insight into the various cultures of the vast mountainous country as well given first hand accounts of what it takes to reach the professional ranks and what it sometimes takes to stay there.
