Ships of the Caspian Flotilla practiced destroying a floating mine, artillery firing and missile strikes during the Ocean-2024 strategic exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said. “As part of the Ocean-2024 strategic command and staff exercise, crews of the Dagestan missile ship, Astrakhan and Volgodonsk small artillery ships of the Caspian Flotilla practiced the tasks of destroying a floating mine threatening civilian ships. The target was fired from standard large-caliber machine guns. Also, in one of the sea ranges, the ships performed artillery firing from 100 mm universal guns at a sea target imitating a warship of a conditional enemy,” the ministry said. It added that the tactical group of the flotilla, consisting of two small missile ships, also practiced the tasks of a sea-based missile weapon strike against a group of ships of a conditional enemy with electronic launches of Kalibr anti-ship cruise missiles.
