The Ghost Town - Part I After the railway was expanded to the area in 1905, the townsite began to emerge from the land in 1909. There was once a railway station, two grain elevators, a school and a post office which was attached to the general store. Like most of the country at the time the area was largely settled by Europeans, people from Scotland in particular. The general store was closed in 1968 and the post office was last in operation in 1975. There is also a locally known story that the last owner of the general store took his life in the back of the building in 1989. Although I have not been able to find any proof of this, the years following would see many different owners as they would never live there for more than a few years, before once again putting it up for sale.
