During a stay in Zurich, Karin comes across an unpublished manuscript, written by Otto Gross, an Austrian psychoanalyst who was admitted several times to psychiatric asylums for drug addiction. Otto's papers seem to her to contain illuminating revelations about these losers of psychoanalysis, whose lives seem to be interlaced through exchanges of letters, poetry and journal fragments.
