New Orleans-born blues vocalist Louisa Dupont, aka Blue Lu Barker, first recorded this somewhat racy number for Decca in 1938, accompanied by her guitarist husband Danny Barker. The two made a new version in 1946 for the Apollo label , and the song received some additional publicity in the ‘70s when recorded by Maria Muldaur The original 78rpm single was issued on Decca 7506 - Don’t You Make Me High (Barker) by Blue Lu Barker with Danny Barker’s Fly Cats, recorded in NYC August 11, 1938
