Nuclear business the American way. Special report by Vasily Prozorov

For almost a year, the Zaporozhye NPP has not generated electricity. Currently, five power units at VVER-1000 reactors are in a “cold“ shutdown, and one is in a “hot“ shutdown to generate steam for the purposes of the plant. ZNPP is under Russian control, and before the start of a special military operation, the station served as a business project of the American company Westinghouse. How did a transnational corporation with not the most impeccable reputation capture the nuclear fuel market in Eastern Europe? And why are Kiev and the West so eager to regain control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant?
