The One Moment was unlike any other music video we've done. Our process for finding moments of wonder and surprise always involves play, but this time, instead of playing with dogs or treadmills or airplanes, we played with math. The choreography happens in a realm we can't directly access—a time scale too fast for us to see with our own eyes—so math was our tool for making sense of it. More than 300 events unfold over 4 seconds of real time, and each was calculated down to one ten thousandth of a second. The finished video plays back between 3 and 200 times slower than real life in different sections to let us see it all. Very precise digital triggers were synced to high-speed robotic arms which whipped the cameras up to hundreds of miles per hour. How does anyone get their head around this?
