Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel's response to Hamas' attack by bombing cities in Gaza -- which has destroyed infrastructure, cut off humanitarian supplies and killed civilians. “Managing a conflict using every sort of embarrassing method - is not a war, it is a massacre,“ he said. Speaking to his ruling AK Party in parliament, Erdogan said Israel's actions were the “reflex of an organization and not a state,“ adding that it would be treated as such if those actions continued. Turkey, which has backed Palestinians in the past and hosted members of Hamas, has been working to mend its ties with Israel after years of animosity. Unlike the European Union and the United States, Ankara does not consider Hamas a terrorist organization. Meanwhile, Jordan's King Abdullah said that no peace was possible in the Middle East without the emergence of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel.
