Albania - Anniversary of death of former leader

(11 Apr 1997) T/I: 10:26:02 GS 10:10:24 A group of about 25 hardline communists on Friday (11/4) commemorated the anniversary of the death of the former stalinist leader of Albania, Enver Hoxha. Mostly elderly, the communists laid floral tributes on the grave and gave the old Albanian communist salute. One of Hoxhas's daughters also attended the ceremony. Hoxha, who died in 1985, led the guerrilla war that eventually established a communist government in 1946. He led the country from then until his death, sticking closely to Stalinist principles.
