Chandni (1989) is a romance by Yash Chopra starring Sridevi, the top female star of the Eighties, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna and others.. The film was a blockbuster in 1989 and is one of the most successful films of Indian cinema, it won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film. Sridevi was a lightning on screen throughout her career spanning almost three decades in Bollywood. Rohit (Rishi Kapoor) meets Chandni (Sridevi) during a wedding reception and falls in love with her head over heels, but his family is against the relationship because of their different social status. Rohit doesn't care and the two are engaged to be married. When a day Rohit was paralyzed from the waist down due to an helicopter accident, his family accused Chandni of being the reason. Believing that he is handicapped for life, Rohit thought that he would never be able to protect Chandni. Faced with all this situation he used an occasion to drive Chandni away by accusing her in the same way as his family. Chandni decides then to move to Mumbai in order to begin a new life. Meanwhile Rohit was cured in Switzerland and came back to India, but Chandni has already made the acquaintance of Lalit (Vinod Khanna). A love triangle began... The music is by Shiv-Hari.
