Planking and caulking the deck. When the sealant dries it basically becomes rubber and it completely seals the deck. This will improves the RC performance of the model ship you are building. I find this method to be great for any kind of model ship, I may use this method again for other static model ships. Clearly if the scale is too little then this won't work, I wouldn't go below 1/48 scale. Also because you should use nails around 0,5mm diameter or even smaller, and at this point it will be hard to make the sikaflex penetrate between planks. In this case as you could see from the video the nails are around 1mm, which is in scale with the rest of the model. This method is also used for caulking real ships and yacht nowadays =) ⚒️ What you saw in the video: Straw oil: Sikaflex for caulking: 📽 My suggestions: ⭐️ How to build a rudder that moves smoothly : 🎥 If you're just starting building ship models check out my basic training videos: ⭐️ Playlist: “Model ship building for beginners“: ⭐️ Playlist: “Basics of rigging model ships: tutorials and techniques“: ⭐️ Fixing deadeyes at the same eight: ⭐️ The electronics you need to turn your boat into an RC model ship: ⭐️ Model ship building from scratch: 📸 Check out my three full video logs: ⭐️ Full video log “The Dorade yacht 1:20“: ⭐️ Full video log “The Whaleboat of New Bedford 1860“: ⭐️ Full video log “Scratch built Fifie herring drifter“: Making this video requires a lot of time and effort.
