Get The MasterSmith's Toolkit Today. It's a downloadable PDF that brings together all the tools and materials I use for knifemaking in one convenient place. It's Free if you click here: In this video, I'm working on making a special dagger with a stone handle called “Serenity.“ The Serenity Dagger is almost done, but before I finish it, I decide to dip the blade in a special acid called ferric chloride. This acid will make a cool pattern called a mosaic on the blade. First, I clean the blade really well, and then I put it in the acid. I'm super excited to see how it turns out! Next, I use coffee to make the blade darker and bring out the pattern even more. It takes a few tries to get it just right, but in the end, I get the look I want. Then, I put a shiny wax finish on it to protect it and make it look even better. Now that the blade is etched, darkened, and shiny, I work on the fittings. I sand them until they are super smooth and shiny too. Then, I use a special process called gun bluing to create my black mirror finish. Finally, I sharpen the dagger so that it's super sharp and ready to use. I put all the pieces together, including the stone handle, dark blade, and black fittings with gold inlays. I'm so happy with how the Serenity Dagger turned out, especially with the stone handle that I've been wanting to try for a long time. I want to tell all of you not to be afraid to try new things and take on challenges in your own projects. It's so much fun to see what you can create! May the Forge Be With YOU!
