On past April 28th, Geiko Miehina and Maiko Fukunae, from the Miyagawa ward of Kyoto, performed for us at the Kyoto Fan Event Maiko Spring 2012. In this video we see the traditional dance called “Kyo no Shiki“, meaning The Four Seasons of Kyoto. As the name indicates, the dance is composed of four parts; the day of the event Fukunae San danced for us the Spring and Summer parts of it, while Miehina San delighted us with her beautiful shamisen play. What I enjoy the most about traditional Japanese dance are the soft and delicate movements, with a slow rhythm that little by little charms you and takes you back in time. In this great day, we all had the chance to meet real Geiko (Geisha) and Maiko (Geisha apprentice), now more about them and even enjoy some games with them.
