In an exclusive MEE interview, Heba Bassem Khres recalls the moment and events that unfolded after her mother was killed, and her son missing. Heba is the daughter of a Palestinian woman, Hala Rashid Abd Al-Ati, who was killed by Israeli forces when they shot her as she was fleeing her neighborhood in Gaza. She was waving a white flag as she was shot and killed. Her grandson, Heba’s son, was with her once she was shot and ran away into the crowd out of fear. He was missing for hours until his family got word he was found by neighbors who took him to family in the south of Gaza. He is currently with his aunt in Rafah. Heba talks about the tremendous loss she has gone through with losing her mother and being estranged from her son for two months now. She demanded that the world look at her mother’s story, and her own story as a mother of a child who was traumatized, and deem it illegal and inhumane. She ends her interview by saying, “Please, end the war. That’s it.” Subscribe to our channel: Subscribe to MEE Telegram channel to stay up to date: Middle East Eye Website: Follow us on TikTok: @middleeasteye Follow us on Instagram: Like us on Facebook: Follow us on Twitter:
