Accident or sabotage at military airfield near Novofedorovka, Crimea

The airfield is guarded by significant air defence systems and eyewitnesses reported no rockets were seen. A source in the Russian military department said the main reason for the explosion is a violation of fire safety requirements and there are no signs or evidence of intentional impact on ammunition. Russian MoD initially said: “At About 3:20 PM on the territory of the airfield ’Saki’ near the settlement of Novofedorovka, Crimea: several aviation munitions detonated in a storage site. As a result of the explosion, no one was injured. Aviation equipment at the airfield was not damaged.“ Crimea Head Aksenov said there was one death. Readovka reported 5 injuries including a child.
