«Барнео» — самый северный научный лагерь. Он находится на дрейфующей льдине возле Северного полюса. Добраться до него можно только на самолёте. Работает лагерь всего лишь месяц. Его открывают, когда начинается полярный день, но солнце ещё не сильно греет. Дольше оставаться опасно — льдины тают. Лагерь «Барнео» работает с 2000 года. Его создало Русское географическое общество, которому уже 177 лет. В день основания организации — 18 августа — у географов профессиональный праздник.
