Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the contrary, kisses the holy Muslim book upon his arrival in Chechnya, as a sign of respect. “Unfortunately, the most complex and extremely sensitive interethnic and interreligious issues are sometimes the subject of speculation and unscrupulous geopolitical games. Extremists and radicals are trying to parasitize them, inciting mutual hatred and enmity,“ Putin once said, commenting on the religious clashes in Europe.  “I repeat, for our huge country, interethnic and interreligious peace is the foundation of foundations,“ he added, underlining the necessity for different faiths to coexist in peace.
