It brings us great sadness to say goodbye to one of the Indian Classical Music legends we filmed in Varanasi for Kaashi Arts in 2016 (). Pandit Rajan Mishra Ji was most famous for his singing duo with his brother, Pandit Sajan Mishra Ji, who said goodbye to him today along with his family. He was a guru to many and had a famous school in the mountains, which he talked about fondly, as we made tentative plans of one day visiting and filming. To us, he was a phenomenal singer, a fountain of knowledge, a keeper of music, and a part of a 350-year-old musical lineage. In the evening, we filmed this interview twelve hours after we had been at a classical music festival at the Sankat Mochan temple. Rajan and Sajan Ji had headlined at 4 am and finished at 7 am. They sang a morning raga, which was awe-inspiring and refined. You can watch it here: After this interview, the brothers invited us to stay for dinner, and the family made a traditional Benaras
