Most rental apartments in Germany come with a small separate storage room in the basement. Since half of our apartment is already in the basement, this extra room is within our apartment and fortunately for us, it's pretty spacious. Over the last few months, I have been reorganizing that room and created a storage corner, a home gym and (yay!) a pantry. Initially we'd wanted to install our washer and dryer into this room as well, but that was not possible. Instead, it had to be installed in our adjacent bathroom. But... the dreams of having a laundry room were not to be killed!
