ПОДПИШИТЕСЬ НА НАС Дом Па́влова (Дом Солдатской Славы, Дом Афанасьева — Павлова) — 4-этажный жилой дом, расположенный на площади Ленина в Волгограде, в котором во время Сталинградской битвы в течение 58 дней героически держала оборону группа советских бойцов. Часть историков считают, что обороной руководил старший сержант Я. Ф. Павлов, принявший командование отделением от раненого в начале боёв старшего лейтенанта И. Ф. Афанасьева, отсюда и название дома. Однако существует другая версия, что Я. Ф. Павлов был командиром штурмовой группы, захватившей здание, а обороной руководил[3] старший лейтенант И. Ф. Афанасьев. Четырёхэтажный с четырьмя подъездами жилой Дом Облпотребсоюза по адресу Пензенская улица, 61 на площади 9-го Января (ныне — площадь Ленина) был построен в середине 1930-х годов архитектором Сергеем Волошиновым. Этот дом считался одним из самых престижных в Сталинграде, рядом с ним располагались элитные жилые здания: Дом связистов, Дома работников НКВД, Дом Железнодорожников и другие. В доме Павлова жили специалисты промышленных предприятий и партийные работники. Рядом также находился Дом Совконтроля — будущий Дом Заболотного — зеркальная копия Дома Павлова. Эти два здания сыграют важную роль в обороне площади 9-го Января. По воспоминаниям очевидцев, цвет обоих зданий был зелёный. Между этими домами проходила ветка железной дороги к Госмельнице № 4 (мельнице Грудинина). The four-storey residential building with four entrances of the Regional Consumer Union at Penzenskaya Street, 61 on January 9th Square (now Lenin Square) was built in the mid-1930s by architect Sergei Voloshinov. This house was considered one of the most prestigious in Stalingrad, next to it there were elite residential buildings: the House of Signalers, the House of NKVD Workers, the House of Railway Workers and others. Specialists from industrial enterprises and party workers lived in Pavlov's house. Nearby was also the House of Sovkontrol - the future House of Zabolotny - a mirror copy of Pavlov's House. These two buildings will play an important role in the defense of 9th January Square. According to eyewitnesses, the color of both buildings was green. Between these houses there was a branch of the railway to Gosmelnitsa No. 4 (Grudinin's mill).
