The UT-30 Mk2 turret with a 30 mm cannon, produced by the Israeli company Elbit, was tested on a Piranha 5 8X8 armored vehicle in Norway as part of the acceptance procedure for a contract for 227 such armored personnel carriers signed by Romania last year. The news tests proved successful, after initial ones in December of 2018 failed to meet standards. Both weapons - the highly advanced 30 mm electrically operated gun and the mm coaxial machine gun - were tested in all possible capabilities and options. Tests were conducted according to NATO standards targets achieving all required accuracy and were performed and demonstrated in the most challenging scenarios, simulating real battlefield conditions, according to sources familiar with the matter. Tests included day and night scenarios, static vehicle and static targets and a combination of dynamic vehicle and dynamic targets. --- Romania signed a 900 million euros contract with Mowag (owned by General Dynamics) in 201
