NYC’s Robot Cop Is Retired For Now Although it was heralded as ushering in policing of the future, New York City’s K5 robot is no longer on the force. The 400-pound robot, which was meant to be a deterrent against crime, was reportedly only used in the Times Square subway station for two months, and has been sitting in storage for another two months. The city, however, is still paying security contractor Knightscope on its six month contract. NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ spokesperson, Charles Lutvak, said the mayor is still deciding whether to deploy the robot to another location for the remainder of the contract. In April 2023, officials said a seven-month contract for the robot would cost $12,250. Источник: RT News
