Carolan (1670-1738), composed this attractive melody in 1693 for Grace Nugent (youngest daughter of James Nugent of Castle Nugent, Westmeath), a first cousin of George Reynolds Esq., of Letterfyan, who was a patron of Carolan. The tune was published in Daniel Wright's Arva di Camera, London, 1727. This version was recorded live by Mark Redmond on pipes and Eilís Lavelle on harp, at the Highlanes Gallery, Drogheda, on Saturday, August 22 as part of the ‘Love & Independence’ exhibition.
